On September 21-23, 2016, Krasnopolye village, Mogilev region, will host a Fair of Social Initiatives. The event is meant to promote social initiatives in the context of the sustainable rural development.
The Fair is being organized by the Mogilev Regional Council, Krasnopolye District Executive Committee and Krasnopolye District Council jointly with the International Foundation for Rural Development. The Slavgorod, Bykhov and Klichev District Executive Committees and District Councils of the Mogilev region are acting as partners. We also appreciate the assistance provided by Tatiana Kononchuk, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus (Bykhov constituency).
The event will take place as part of the project ‘Private-Public Partnership for Sustainable Development of Rural Districts of Belarus’ sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Small Grants Program in the Republic of Belarus (the funds are registered as foreign gratuitous aid by the Department of Humanitarian Affairs of the Presidential Property Management Department of the Republic of Belarus).
Quality modern social services accessible for all to respond to the present-day challenges for the sustainable development is the cross-cutting theme of the Fair of Local Social Initiatives.
In line with this fundamental point, all local initiatives will be considered with regard to a clear definition of:
- the problem and the target group for which this problem is pressing;
- the importance of finding a solution to this problem, and compliance of the actions planned with local development strategies (territorial development plans);
- short-term and long-term results of proposed actions;
- economic and environmental impacts;
- sustainability of project outputs.
Special emphasis will be put on initiatives aimed at the development of socially conscious entrepreneurship and the buildup of the corporate social responsibility as factors that enhance the social protection of the local communities and reduce the social burden on the district budgets.
The Fair will be held in the form of presentations, seminars, round tables, demonstration of best practices and social start-up projects. Invitations to the event will be sent to international and foreign organizations, which support social projects, and Belarusian non-profit organizations, which have experience in the development and backstopping of social projects and can assist in their further promotion.
A presentation of start-up social projects of the Krasnopolye, Bykhov, Slavgorod and Klichev districts with a photographic exhibition depicting project locations scheduled for September 23, 2016 will be the key component of the Fair in Krasnopolye.
